Australian Under-16 Championships heads to Western Australia

RETURNING to Western Australia for 2020 and 2021, the Australian Under-16 Junior Championships is heading back to Warwick!

Warwick Stadium recently hosted the Australian Under-16 Junior Championships in 2017, with our Victoria Metropolitan Women taking the gold in a thrilling all-Victorian clash against Victoria Country.

The Victoria Metropolitan Men won the bronze medal to round off an extremely successful week in Perth with plenty more to come in 2020 and 2021.

The championships were extremely well received and the Warwick basketball community is excited to once again showcase Perth and the region as a whole.

The Australian Under-16 Championships features teams from across the country battling it out for the Under-16 titles – with both currently held by Victoria Metropolitan following an extremely successful tournament week in Darwin this past July.

It provides the first true opportunity for junior Australian athletes to represent their state and are a vital aspect of the pathway towards national representation.

“The Australian Junior Championships have been estimated to bring up to 15,000 bed nights and $4million in spending to a local area across the course of the tournament.”
