MUVJBL VC U12-U18 teams announced

THERE will be 36 associations throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria competing in MUVJBL VC Under-12 to Under-18 divisions following the completion of Grading Phase Two.

Up on 31 associations from last year, even more Melbourne Utd. Victorian Junior Basketball League (MUVJBL) associations are making the grade and earning places in the best tier of competition.

Our best and brightest have surged throughout the initial stages of the MUVJBL 2018/19 season, with our under-12s, under-14s, under-16s and under-18s earning their places in the top tier VC competition.

These 160 VC teams, through the under-12 to under-18 competitions, comprise Victoria’s elite basketballers and highlight the pathway towards Victorian representation, elite senior competitions like the NBL and WNBL all the way up to the Australian Boomers and Opals teams.

Leading the way with VC U12-U18 representative teams are Dandenong, Hawthorn, Kilsyth and Knox who all have 10 teams who have qualified across the 16 divisions.

Also impressing with a large proportion of qualifying U12-U18 teams for the upcoming VC season are  Eltham (nine teams), Nunawading (nine), Bulleen (eight), Keilor (eight), Diamond Valley (seven), Frankston (seven) and Melbourne (seven).

In addition, a number of sides from our regional associations have claimed their spots in the U12-U18 VC Divisions, with Geelong (five teams), Southern Peninsula (four), Bendigo (four teams), Ballarat (three), Bellarine (three), Latrobe (three), Pakenham (three), Sale and Korumburra each having the opportunity to be a part of VC.

“Congratulations to our 36 MUVJBL associations to qualify a VC team so far,” MUVJBL manager John Hilton said. “It is a brilliant effort by the players, coaches, volunteers and their associations as a whole who have worked hard to earn their spots in VC.

“This is always an impressive achievement and highlights the hard work that all our associations undertake year-in year-out to rise up the ranks.

“We wish all the teams competing in the MUVJBL VC or VJL competitions this season good luck for the season ahead.”

Selection into the MUVJBL U12-U18 VC division gives the teams the opportunity to qualify for the National Junior Classic and for the Under-14 teams a chance at the Australian Under-14 Club Championships.

Our Under-21 VC competitions will be announced following completion of their respective grading phase.
