MUVJBL Update – September


It’s been a long time since our last update; all the VC and VJL Competitions are now halfway through their finals campaign after another fantastic home and away season. (See below for some interesting statistics)


Grand Finals

Grand Finals this season will be held at the following Venues;

Friday 13th Sept         Dandenong, Eltham & Keilor (VJL).

Saturday 14th Sept    Werribee (VJL).

Sunday 15th Sept       Eltham, Frankston & State Basketball Centre (VJL).

Friday 20th Sept         Dandenong & State Basketball Centre (VC).

Please Note

*Scorebench Officials will be supplied for all Grand-Finals (Where Possible)


Spring & Grading Phases

Spring Phase commences on Friday 8th November with Pre-Grading games on the 15th November, Grading Phase 1 commences 22nd November with games through to 13th December (20th December reserve day). Grading Phase 2 begins 31st January 2020.


VJBL Website

During the season you would have noticed a more user friendly VJBL Website. If there are any concerns regarding the VJBL Website, please contact the office of the VJBL.


VJBL Statistics 2019 Season

Another huge season of basketball in the VJBL this year with some amazing statistics firstly in the VJL Competitions we achieved 10000 games played (in last round of the season) during the home and away season and a further 1530 games in the VC Competitions. These games produced 342 drawn games, 564 one-point games, 2297 two-five point games and a further 2534 games where the margins were under ten points. Home teams won 53% of games in the VJL Competitions with 49% of home teams winning in the VC Competitions.


It’s the Final MUVJBL 3X3 Challenge Tournament for 2019

The Melbourne United Victorian Junior Basketball League (MUVJBL) 3×3 Challenge will return in the

October school holidays, with the fourth and final 3×3 Challenge Tournament for the year held at the State Basketball Centre on Friday 4 October.

To register your team for the MUVJBL 3×3 Challenge Tournament, click here.

Held for boys’ and girls’ teams in the U12, U14, U16 and U18 age groups, the tournament will be played under 3×3 rules.

Entry for the MUVJBL 3×3 Challenge Tournament costs $50 per team with each team guaranteed between four and six games across the day. Players must be under the age group by 31 December 2019.

Details will be sent out after entries close on how to create a profile on FIBA by Wednesday 2 October at 9am.

Players will receive 3×3 Player ranking points and there are great prizes for each section.

WIB Luncheon & Girls Got Game

Mark your calendars for this year Women in Basketball and Girls Got Game celebration. Join us as we celebrate the wonderful women and rising star girls at the 2019 Basketball Victoria Women in Basketball Luncheon. This event is an opportunity for women from within the Victorian Basketball community to get together, form networks, inspire one another, and thank the women involved in the sport for their time, expertise and dedication.

The Girls Got Game Award winner and Advancing Women in Basketball Award recipient will also be crowned.

Time: 12pm – 3pm
