THIS week’s MUVJBL Update will get you up to speed on our Girls Got Game Round, the Regional Challenge and race towards the National Junior Classic!
The MUVJBL has been inundated will calls regarding player’s statistics not being updated. The statistics for players will only appear where and when games are played at venues that have Stadium Scoring. Venues that do not have Stadium Scoring do not have the ability to input statistics of players. Once all venues are equipped with Stadium Scoring player statistics will be updated on a weekly basis.
Five rounds in and the close games continue with over 200 games being decided by five points or less and another 17 tied games. The closest section was in the 16 Boys VJL8 where the margins were a one and two points game with the remaining three games all five point margins. In the Girls 16 VJL7 there was a tie and three games decided by less than four points.
Six rounds and again the closeness of the competitions unveils with a further 29 tied games and nearly 200 games decided by five points or less, Boys VJL7 had four drawn matches, no team scored a hundred points although Dandenong in the 21 VC Boys scored 99.

BEN SIMMONS NAMED AS NBA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR FINALIST
It’s not a massive surprise by any stretch, but all the same it’s fantastic to see former MUVJBL player Ben Simmons rewarded for his incredible first full NBA season. He’s got to get past Donovan Mitchell and Jayson Tatum, but we reckon the Victorian superstar is set to earn his first end of season accolade… and definitely not his last!

MUVJBL 2018 REGIONAL CHALLENGE
Hosting our 10th Regional Challenge (how quickly did that go by?), the MUVJBL will hold the invite-only event on Friday 13 July – the last Friday of the July School Holidays – at the State Basketball Centre, Wantirna South.
It is an invitational event where top teams in VJL3 (U12) and VJL5 (U14, U16 and U18), after round 9 are invited from each of the Regional Zones (North/West and South/East) to represent their Region in a one off game against the opposing region. The Regional Zone with the most wins in the Challenge earns the David Hickman Shield, with the shield currently held by the North after winning in 2017. Tops and medallions will be supplied to all participants plus additional giveaways on the nite of the games to participating teams.
Invitations to the respective teams will be sent on the Monday after the completion of Round 10.
