MUVJBL 2017/18 VC teams announced

READY for another bumper season across the league, the last of our association teams have confirmed their spots in the MUVJBL’s 2017/18 VC divisions.

The best and brightest of the Melbourne Utd Victorian Junior Basketball League (MUVJBL) have battled to rise up the ranks and earn their spots in the finalised VC pools.

31 associations will be represented within the MUVJBL VC divisions in 2017/18 – highlighting the strength of the league across the entirety of Metropolitan and Country Victoria.

Leading the way in 2017/18, Nunawading has 13 teams represented in VC across the 18 divisions ahead of Bulleen (12 teams), Dandenong (11 teams), Kilsyth (10 teams), Hawthorn (nine teams), Knox (nine teams), Diamond Valley (eight teams), Eltham (eight teams), Frankston (eight teams), Melbourne (eight teams) and Sandringham (eight teams).

Country MUVJBL mainstays Pakenham (six teams), Ballarat (five teams), Bendigo (three), Geelong (five teams) Latrobe (three teams) and Southern Peninsula (two teams) lead our country associations for qualified sides for VC pools, showcasing how far and wide talented Victorians will travel to be part of the league.

Earning a spot in MUVJBL’s premier division was the dream of 1306 teams that have entered this season and to those 180 that have made it, it opens up the next chapter of opportunities.

The 180 teams will be split into Ashe and Watson divisions through Under-12 to Under-18 competitions and the single Ashe division for our Under-21 VC teams.

Qualification into VC divisions also ensures a side is in with a chance to compete at the Medibank National Junior Classic – taking in the best 16 teams from around Australia for the Queen’s Birthday weekend tournament.

“Earning a place in VC is a great reflection on the 31 MUVJBL qualifying associations as their players, coaches, volunteers and their communities have worked hard to attain this impressive achievement,” MUVJBL manager John Hilton said. “We wish all the teams competing in the MUVJBL this season the best of luck for the season to come.”
